Well, hey there teachers.
Tiffany Webster:Welcome to Teacher Business Buzz.
Tiffany Webster:I've got a juicy question for you today.
Tiffany Webster:What's your teacher superpower?
Tiffany Webster:Now, if we haven't met before, I'm Tiffany Webster and I'm the co founder of Teacher Business.com along with my husband Dwayne.
Tiffany Webster:I'm a wife and mom of three boys and a former Disney princess turned K12 teacher and administrator for 25 years.
Tiffany Webster:Now an entrepreneur and a top 10 charter school podcast host.
Tiffany Webster:But I am here at Teacher Business Buzz to help teachers like you start an online business.
Tiffany Webster:Now, what do you think your teacher superpower is?
Tiffany Webster:@teacherbusiness.com we believe that all teachers have superpowers, aka your specialized knowledge or skillset that you can teach others and use to turn into a business.
Tiffany Webster:Many teachers overlook their superpower and it's because it's too obvious.
Tiffany Webster:It's something that you just do so naturally that you don't really think of it as being a talent or specialized knowledge or specialized skills that could help somebody else.
Tiffany Webster:But the truth is that what comes easily to you might be exactly what the teacher next door is struggling with.
Tiffany Webster:Imagine when you are busy on your computer and you're just putting together your slideshow presentations for your class.
Tiffany Webster:That comes really easily to you.
Tiffany Webster:The teacher next door might be dying over that kind of a task.
Tiffany Webster:They might be struggling to figure out canva or struggling how to use the smart board.
Tiffany Webster:And sometimes those things that are really easy for you that you're just really good at can really be helpful to someone else if you can teach them how to do that.
Tiffany Webster:And that is what your teacher superpower is a specialized skill set or knowledge that you have that you could teach other people and turn into a business.
Tiffany Webster:So I have seen this firsthand as a teacher and an administrator walking through the hallways of schools.
Tiffany Webster:I have seen teachers specialize in all kinds of things.
Tiffany Webster:Grade levels for sure, right?
Tiffany Webster:The person that is the go to kindergarten teacher or that seventh grade math teacher, that's amazing, right?
Tiffany Webster:And they just know seventh graders so well.
Tiffany Webster:So we see teachers specialize in grade levels all the time and subject matter as well, whether that's math or STEM or pe.
Tiffany Webster:I've seen amazing art teachers and music teachers or teachers that are just really good at reading groups or really great at writing.
Tiffany Webster:When you see someone who is a master in a certain subject matter.
Tiffany Webster:So that is definitely a specialized skillset that some teachers have.
Tiffany Webster:I've seen teachers specialize in classroom management in classroom environments.
Tiffany Webster:Okay.
Tiffany Webster:You know those teachers that have great classroom environments where Everything just seems to have its place and be organized and be beautiful, yet really functional as well.
Tiffany Webster:Those teachers definitely specialize in classroom environments.
Tiffany Webster:I've seen teachers specialize in classroom communities, those morning routines or the ways that students solve problems and hold each other accountable.
Tiffany Webster:There's some teachers that are really great when it comes to communities.
Tiffany Webster:I've seen teachers that are great with special and specific populations, whether that's special ed or gate students or ELL students.
Tiffany Webster:They really just have a knack for working with that specific population of students.
Tiffany Webster:I've seen other teachers that just specialize in their unique styles.
Tiffany Webster:The quirky teacher or the one that's really funny, or the one that has a way of bringing music into their teaching methods and teaching styles.
Tiffany Webster:So I've definitely seen some amazing teachers that have unique teaching styles that could definitely teach other teachers how to incorporate those same styles into their classrooms.
Tiffany Webster:And there's just so many more teachers are really specialists in so many things.
Tiffany Webster:So I wanted you to really be able to start wrapping your head around what your teacher superpower is.
Tiffany Webster:So today I'm going to provide you three questions that you can use to start to identify your teacher superpower.
Tiffany Webster:All right?
Tiffany Webster:So number one is I want you to think about the parts of teaching that light you up.
Tiffany Webster:And you can just jot these down on a notepad or you can put notes in your phone.
Tiffany Webster:But just start thinking about what are the parts of teaching that really get you excited?
Tiffany Webster:The parts of the teaching that.
Tiffany Webster:Is it the planning that you love?
Tiffany Webster:Is it being with the kids?
Tiffany Webster:Is it giving direct instruction?
Tiffany Webster:Is it small group instruction?
Tiffany Webster:Helping students that are struggling, helping students that are gifted students extend their learning?
Tiffany Webster:Just think about what is it that really lights you up the most, and that is a good clue about what your superpower might be.
Tiffany Webster:Another thing that you could think about is what do other teachers usually come to you for when they need help?
Tiffany Webster:Right.
Tiffany Webster:So are you the tech go to?
Tiffany Webster:Are you the art go to?
Tiffany Webster:You always have a great art lesson?
Tiffany Webster:Do you have great ways of teaching math and breaking down some concepts that might be tricky?
Tiffany Webster:Do you have great STEM lessons?
Tiffany Webster:And do you always have, like, fun experiments for the kids and know how to put all those pieces together to have really great hands on lessons?
Tiffany Webster:So think about what it is that other teachers come to you for.
Tiffany Webster:That's a really good clue as well.
Tiffany Webster:That is your teacher's superpower, that specialized knowledge or skill set that you have.
Tiffany Webster:And then thirdly is our wave the magic wand question.
Tiffany Webster:If you could wave a magic wand and just teach one topic or one skill, what would you teach?
Tiffany Webster:What would you love to just spend your day teaching and who would you teach?
Tiffany Webster:Would you love to work with students only?
Tiffany Webster:Would you love to just work with younger students or just work with older students?
Tiffany Webster:Would you love to provide more instruction to teachers or to work with school districts on more professional development type of opportunities?
Tiffany Webster:Would you like to give instruction to parents?
Tiffany Webster:There's a lot of homeschool parents who could benefit from the knowledge and skills that teachers have.
Tiffany Webster:So think about if you could wave that magic wand, what would that look like for you?
Tiffany Webster:What would you teach and who would you teach?
Tiffany Webster:All right, those are three ways that you can start thinking about what your teacher superpower might be.
Tiffany Webster:And identifying your superpower is really the first step in starting to think about creating your online business because you want to be clear on what it is that you're really great at so that you know exactly who you can serve and the results that you can deliver.
Tiffany Webster:All right.
