Hey teachers.
Tiffany:Welcome to teacher Business Buzz.
Tiffany:Now let me ask you, are you missing important clues to your superpower?
Tiffany:This week we are bringing you a five part series all about helping you discover clues to your superpower.
Tiffany:Because your superpower is the foundation to starting an online business.
Tiffany:Now, if we've not met before, my name's Tiffany and I am the co founder of Teacher Business.com along with my husband Dwayne.
Tiffany:And we are dedicated to helping teachers turn their teacher superpower, AKA their special skills or knowledge, into a profitable online membership business.
Tiffany:And this all started back when I was a teacher in the classroom.
Tiffany:I've been a K12 teacher and administrator for 25 years and then I went on to become a top 10 charter school podcaster.
Tiffany: started teaching way back in: Tiffany: n we started teaching back in: Tiffany:And let me tell you, this was like an old booklet with a CD rom and this is where we found our fonts.
Tiffany:Okay, are you starting to feel me now?
Tiffany:This is where we found our font.
Tiffany:This is where we found our clip art.
Tiffany:We had to use this, like cd and then you'd have to look in the book to see what it was that you wanted to add and then you would have to upload it in to your work.
Tiffany:It took forever.
Tiffany:It was so clunky.
Tiffany:But back in the day, that's how we got started.
Tiffany:I ended up adding clipart to everything.
Tiffany:Right?
Tiffany:Can you feel me?
Tiffany:I loved it.
Tiffany:Once I started discovering what clipart could do and the difference that it could make.
Tiffany:And so I put clip art everywhere.
Tiffany:In fact, I could almost not even stand it if somebody made a flyer or made a document that didn't have a piece of clip art on it.
Tiffany:So what does this have to do with being a teacher or starting a teacher business?
Tiffany:All of that helped me to see that I had a knack for graphic design.
Tiffany:And once I realized that I had a knack for graphic design, I realized that I could continue to grow that skill and become better and better at that skill.
Tiffany:And as a result of that, I am now a digital designer.
Tiffany:I'm a website designer, I'm a canva expert, I'm an online course creator, and I've gone on to sell thousands of dollars of products on TBT because I developed that knack for graphic design.
Tiffany:So sometimes the things that you do can be a clue as to what your superpower is.
Tiffany:So then we can see how to take your teacher's superpower and turn that into an online business idea.
Tiffany:For me, once I learned that I had these skills, I knew that my superpower would be creating digital products and resources and that somehow I'd be able to weave that into my business, which I've done.
Tiffany:So let me give you three ways that you can see success.
Tiffany:Leaving clues about your superpower.
Tiffany:And when I say success, the things that you're already doing well, those can be clues as to what your teacher's superpower might be and how you might be able to turn that into a business.
Tiffany:All right, number one, it lights you up.
Tiffany:Do you ever find yourself doing something that is just.
Tiffany:You just like doing it?
Tiffany:That's how I was with Clipart.
Tiffany:I just loved Clipart.
Tiffany:I just loved putting in on stuff.
Tiffany:And I honestly, I just couldn't stop myself.
Tiffany:I just made me so happy whenever I would add the Clipart to things that I just kept doing it.
Tiffany:So that's your first clue.
Tiffany:Do you do something that just really lights you up?
Tiffany:It gets you excited, it makes you feel creative, it makes you feel energized.
Tiffany:If so, pay attention to what that is.
Tiffany:That might be a clue to what your teacher superpower is.
Tiffany:Do you gravitate towards mastery?
Tiffany:And when I say gravitate, like you can't help yourself, like you just constantly find your way back to whatever that thing is.
Tiffany:That's how I was with Clipart.
Tiffany:It was like, no one's asking me to do this.
Tiffany:No one's saying I have to put Clipart on things.
Tiffany:But I just kept going back to it and I just kept trying to figure out how to make the things that I was doing look better.
Tiffany:And so when you naturally gravitate towards mastery, when you just naturally want to practice things and get better at it and hone your skills and you want to learn to do it better and faster so that you can just do it more often and do it easier and you start creating methods and systems.
Tiffany:That's a good clue that this is becoming something that could be your two year superpower.
Tiffany:All right.
Tiffany:And another clue is that you get results.
Tiffany:Right?
Tiffany:As I started using Clipart, I was getting results.
Tiffany:My work was looking better.
Tiffany:I was really happy with it.
Tiffany:And then other people started asking me to do it for them as well.
Tiffany:They loved the way that my field trip flyers looked and they asked if I could do it for them.
Tiffany:Or they loved the way that my teacher conference signups looked and they asked if they could have a copy.
Tiffany:So when you Start getting results for yourself, and you can get those same results for other people.
Tiffany:That's a good clue that this is going to be part of your teacher superpower.
Tiffany:And here's the bonus.
Tiffany:The bonus is when people start saying, you could charge money for this.
Tiffany:Right?
Tiffany:We love when we hear that because that really signals that this could be something that can not only be your teacher's superpower, but a great business idea as well.
Tiffany:All right, so let's recap.
Tiffany:Here are some clues that you can look for.
Tiffany:Number one, look for something that you do that just lights you up throughout the course of your day.
Tiffany:Makes you feel excited, makes you feel creative, makes you feel energized.
Tiffany:That's a good clue.
Tiffany:All right, then look for something that you gravitate towards mastering without even really trying hard.
Tiffany:You just keep practicing it and keep trying to get better.
Tiffany:Look for why you can get results for yourself or for someone else.
Tiffany:When you're able to get those results for yourself and someone else, it's a good clue about your superpower.
Tiffany:And then number four is the bonus if people start telling you you could charge money for this.
Tiffany:Another great clue.
Tiffany:All right, I hope you found that helpful.
