Tiffany:

Hey, teachers.

Tiffany:

Welcome to Teacher Business Buzz.

Tiffany:

Now, do you want to know one of the leading causes of teacher burnout?

Tiffany:

If you are new to this channel, I'm Tiffany and I am one of the co founders of TeacherBusiness.com along with my husband Dwayne.

Tiffany:

I'm also a mom of three boys and I'm a former Disney princess turned K12 teacher and administrator for 25 years.

Tiffany:

Now I'm an entrepreneur and the host of a top 10 charter school podcast.

Tiffany:

But we started Teacher Business Buzz to help teachers like you build an online business.

Tiffany:

And one of the ways that we are starting to see teachers burn out is when they lose excitement.

Tiffany:

When you lose excitement for teaching, that's when that burnout starts to set in.

Tiffany:

And so some of the ways that you can maintain your excitement is to have meaningful, ongoing, personal and professional growth.

Tiffany:

And that's one of our core beliefs here@teacherbusiness.com and now I'm not talking about the PB that you're mandated to go to or some of those district trainings, but the things that really help you to grow as a person and grow as a professional, the things that you want to learn more about, the skills that you want to develop, those are the types of things that will help you continue to thrive, both personally and professionally and really help you keep that excitement in the classroom and also as you go forward with starting an online business.

Tiffany:

And the reasons why teachers need this excitement is because we are creative beings.

Tiffany:

We need to experience that autonomy and that ability to express ourselves in ways that keep us excited in the classroom.

Tiffany:

And we also need to have the space and boundaries so that we can stay excited.

Tiffany:

And that can be really hard sometimes.

Tiffany:

I know that running a classroom can be very, you know, over consuming.

Tiffany:

You probably go home and go to bed at night thinking about your students.

Tiffany:

You wake up in the morning thinking about your students.

Tiffany:

If you stay on that track all the time without taking any time away from that, it can really lead to burnout.

Tiffany:

You need a little bit of that space, you need a little bit of those boundaries so that you can reset and then you can start the day fresh with that excitement.

Tiffany:

And we also need to have that excitement and that passion.

Tiffany:

But that can be really hard if we are feeling like we are out of bandwidth, right?

Tiffany:

Like our minds contract and expand all of the time.

Tiffany:

And when we're really like focusing in on a task, like whether it's just trying to get papers graded or you're trying to get grades, entering into the system, or you're really Working hard on trying to plan out your small groups and how you're gonna do things.

Tiffany:

Like, your mind is really contracted and really focused on that.

Tiffany:

And when you finally get a chance to step away from the classroom and maybe you're having your drive home, like, that's when your ideas come to you, because your mind is finally relaxed a little bit, it's expanded a little bit, and that creative flow can start to happen.

Tiffany:

And allowing yourself to have that time in that space to allow your mind to wander a little bit so that those ideas can start to flow, that's really going to help you maintain that excitement and get those creative moments so that you can stay engaged and excited about what you're doing in the classroom.

Tiffany:

We have found that one of the best ways to keep those creative ideas flowing and to help you continue to grow, both personally and professionally, so that you are excited about what you're teaching, is starting an online business.

Tiffany:

And here's three ways an online business can help you do that.

Tiffany:

Number one, when you take your teacher superpower and you start to turn that in to an online business, it gives you a whole new purpose.

Tiffany:

It gives you a little bit of perspective beyond just the four walls of your classroom.

Tiffany:

And it really gives you an opportunity to expand your thinking, expand how you can make an impact in the world, expand the people that you can reach with your expertise.

Tiffany:

And that whole new purpose is going to help ignite that excitement that will continue to fuel you as a teacher.

Tiffany:

Starting an online business also presents some new challenges, but in a really great way.

Tiffany:

This is that lifelong learning, that productive struggle.

Tiffany:

It gives you a chance to tap into things that are new and different and solve new and different problems which are going to help to keep that spark going.

Tiffany:

It also gives you a chance to step into a new version of yourself.

Tiffany:

Creating an online business is going to force you to do things a little bit differently.

Tiffany:

You're going to have to change your routines, you're going to think about things differently, you're going to be acting differently, you're going to be applying different skills.

Tiffany:

And when you start to add those different dimensions to who you are as a person, you become this different version of yourself.

Tiffany:

And when we are becoming new versions of ourselves, that's exciting.

Tiffany:

That keeps us going.

Tiffany:

It helps us to feel like there's something different or better down the road.

Tiffany:

And so turning into this newer version of yourself with new skill sets, overcoming new challenges, making new impact, creating new relationships, all of this helps you step into a new version of yourself, which helps to keep that excitement going and keep you thriving both personally and professionally.

Tiffany:

So I hope you'll think about that when you are thinking about starting a new business that really it can help you in all of those different ways.
